赴美国留学需要做哪些准备一、首先，需要确认录取，交I-20所需材料，要I-20表：
1)、对于已经确定要去的学校，可以直接交付定金、交I-20所需材料，管学校要I-20表；
2)、对于还没有决定去哪个学校的同学，可能还在幸福的纠结中，不知道去哪个学校比较好(许多学生往往喜欢确认好几个学校，然后再慢慢选)；为了提高效率，不耽误签证，同时也让美国学校对中国学生的印象不要继续变坏，建议大家最好也能尽量在5~6月确定去哪个学校。
二、其次，大家需要准备好I-20所需材料,学校出I-20要求补交的材料一般有：
1)、存款证明
2）、学校Finance表格
3）、Passport 复印件
由于录取和发签证经常是不同办公室处理的，国际学生办公室往往找不到这些材料，比较保险的办法是再寄一次(时间充足的话可以先和学校argue一下让他们找去)。如果时间紧急，可以在寄出的同时先把这些材料扫描/传真过去，跟学校商量“签证时间很紧，材料已经在路上了，你们能不能就着扫描件先处理I-20 ”，(有的学校本身就可只接受扫描件)。

三、关于确认+发I-20的时间：
从确认到发I-20的时间，短则一个星期，长则一个半月，像NYU，Umich，Cornell，UC系统等大学校都是效率低的主儿，Brandeis是收到材料当天可发。要密切注意学校是不是要求自付快递费，通常通过eshipglobal(第三方快递支付机构)支付后还要一个星期才能取件，一定要提早付款。目前需要自付的有U of Washington, FSU, UT Austin等。I-20直接寄到的有USC，Nebraska-Lincoln，Depaul，Virginia Tech等。
收到I-20之后，同学们可以开始准备办理签证。
四、签证过后，同学们还有10件事情需要做好：
1、激活学校ID，Email。这一步比较重要，以后选宿舍，orientation, 选课甚至交学费都要用这个系统的；另外有些学校在确认入读之后即可操作此步骤。
2、申请住宿。
3、参加Orientation。通常是在开学前两三天。有的学校orientation的时间可从7月开始到9月，每个时间段都有名额，像UCLA，迟一步就注册不上开学前的那次了。Orientation有deadline要注意。

4、参加Placement test。Penn State U，Michigan State U，U of Iowa, U of Washington等许多学校都有入学考试，这个对于入学没有影响，主要是作为选课和指导的依据。有的在5月份，有的在orientation时考，通常是数学或英语。Michigan和IUB的英语测试决定着学生要不要读语言课程。
5、寄送期末成绩单。尽量早寄送。通常final transcripts截止期是在7月15日左右，让学生和教务处商量好在暑假之前出成绩单，不要等到下学期开学。尤其是转学生，迟交成绩单可能会影响转学分和选课。特别需要注意的是：要求成绩单评估的学校，final transcripts仍然要拿去评估。
6、体检。体检和签证本身没有关系，签证前后体检都可以。有的学校体检表在录取包裹里，有的学校需要自己上官网去找，还有的学校是没有体检表的。体检前填好基本信息，带着表格去体检，里面有很多不懂的医学单词不要紧，体检医生会填好所有信息并签字盖章。体检好以后将表格和体检报告扫描/传真给学校就行了。通常交表有一个截止期，如果赶不上(因为体检需要打两次疫苗，前后相隔一个月)，可以跟学校商量晚一点交，这个截止期并不严格。体检表是为了买医疗保险(必须买)。

7、订机票，接机。通常学校的录取包裹，或者是网站上admitted student的页面，或是邮件里会有接机指示，照做就行。有些学校接机是有规定时间的(仅限一日)，这时间之外不接机。有的学校完全没有接机服务，如Ohio state University，Michigan State University这种公立的大学校。这个时候就大家可以去求助中国学生会，CSSA。
8、建立赴美人脉第一步：比如同学们可以联系中国学生会、还有就是大家可以通过微博、QQ群，用来找宿舍，接机，找同行者(请大家也注意保护自己的隐私，谨防诈骗)；
9、交学费。通常是去到注册时再交，刷卡，也可以在国内用电汇或者汇票，但是需要问清楚学校的帐号等(通常不会公布)。生活费可以自己办旅行支票带过去用。
